The president and authorized person of the Center for European Citizen Initiative is Dr. Jovan Ananiev. He is the initiator and one of the founders of the association in 2002. He was born on January 21, 1978 in Kocani, Macedonia where he completed primary and secondary education. He graduated in political studies at the Faculty of Law at the University of “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje in 2000, he obtained a master’s degree in political science at the Institute for Sociological,Political and Juridical  Research at the University of “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje in 2004 and earned a doctorate in political science at the  Institute for Sociological,Political and Juridical  Research at the University of “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje in 2006. Since 2001, he was a project assistant in the Department of Political Sciences at the  Institute for Sociological,Political and Juridical  Research  at the University “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje, researcher at the Center for Refugees and Forced Migration  Studies within the Institute and assistant professor of the master’s and doctoral studies at this Institute. Since 2007, he has been employed at the Faculty of Law at “Goce Delchev” University in Shtip, where he was elected assistant professor, associate professor and full professor in the scientific field of Political Systems and was dean of the Faculty of Law from 2011 to 2019. He was a member of the Commission for Prevention and Protection against Discrimination from 2010 to 2018 and a member of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) at the Council of Europe from 2013 to 2018 and was ECRI’s rapporteur for Ukraine and Estonia.

He has worked on a number of international research projects and worked as a consultant on projects implemented or supported by UNOPS, JICA,UNDP, UNHCR, EU, GTZ, Council of Europe, OSCE and embassies and foundations.

His fields of scientific and professional interest are political systems, human rights, European integration, democracy and good governance and local self-government.
